Summer At The Hazlitt Theatre

26th Apr - 15th Sep

With a colder start to Spring we have our minds on Summer here at the Hazlitt Theatre! From our Open Air Summer Tour in its fourth annual year to our brand new HI Choir Summer Sessions, as well as the Hazlitt Institute’s Play and Musical In A Week in August, everyone can get involved in great theatre in July and August.

July starts with a bang with the “truly jaw-dropping” (Metro) cast of Forbidden Nights on 4th July. As seen on Britain’s Got Talent, brace yourself for something truly spectacular as Forbidden Nights celebrates 9 years of muscles, mayhem and over 11,000 shirt rips! So, stop looking, start booking!

Stage Theatre Society are back in July too, with their Hazlitt Theatre User Amateur production of Matilda the Musical Jr. based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl. Raised by cruel parents, and quick to impress her loveable teacher Miss Honey, Matilda tells incredible stories and uses her impressive brain and magical powers to bring happiness to everyone around her. With over 1,000 tickets already sold, this uplifting family musical will delight audiences young and old!

We finish July off with some brand new comedy in our Exchange Studio as 8 early career comedians take the stage for their Edinburgh Previews. Comedians include Glenn Moore, Ania Magliano and Susan Riddell across these four days of warm-ups for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Pop Divas Live is back on 9 August for another evening of hits from your little divas’ favourite artists including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and many more. And for adult music fans, Disco Inferno returns on 17 August for an all-singing, all-dancing celebration of everything D-I-S-C-O! If you have ever dreamed of going to New York’s Studio 54, shake your body down to the Hazlitt Theatre for the funkiest get down in town!

August of course brings our fourth annual Open Air Summer Tour to 10 venues across Maidstone too! This year, join the adventure of D’Artagnan and his friends for The Three Musketeers at some newly added venues like Lenham Tithe Barn, Stockbury and South Park! Bring your picnics, blankets, and families to a venue near you for this fun and relaxed show - but be careful of those cheeky actors and your food!

July and August see the last of our brand new HI Choir Summer Sessions - so why not join us? These 3 ½ hour Sunday sessions are no commitment, pay-as-you-go masterclass sessions led by award-winning Musical Director Tom Self. Whether you’re a singing novice looking for something different, or an experienced musician, our friendly HI Choir look forward to welcoming you on 21 July and 18 August!

For families looking for something to channel their budding performers’ energy and imagination why not sign them up for our HI Play In a Week Annie (6–11-year-olds) from 5th - 9th August and for the slightly older ones we have HI Musical In A Week Mean Girls (11-18 year olds) 12th - 16th August!  It’s going to be so “fetch”!!!

Finally, don’t forget that our panto early bird offer for our Hazlitt Theatre pantomime Cinderella ends at the end of August!  You can magically save £1 per ticket (excluding family of 4 tickets) when you book before the close strike’s midnight on 31st August.  With over 2,500 tickets sold already and key dates like Christmas Eve already near to selling out, don’t say we didn't warn you!  Book now and you shall go to the ball!
