The Purple Sunflower Campaign

As part of the national 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Abuse 2024, Golding Homes and Maidstone Borough council have joined forces to create the Purple Sunflower Campaign.
The aim is to create a purple sunflower to depict every one of the 2,956 survivors of domestic abuse, which is sadly the number of kent police reports within the maidstone borough, between January 2023 to January 2024.
Staff from Golding, MBC, community groups and other organisations linked with domestic abuse have been asked to create purple sunflowers in a variety of mediums to suit everyone's creative flair.
A variety of puprle sunflowers have been done so far, some have been done by crochet and knitting, others have been paintings and resins.
If you're interested in getting creative and making some purple sunflowers for this exhibition you can drop your creations off at head office County Gate One or the shepway Hub (open Tuesday and Thursday morning) by friday 15th November.
All sunflowers will be displayed in The Mall, Maidstone between 25th November to 10th December as part of a series of extraordinary art works to represent seeds of change ,
aimed at raising awareness and helping put an end to the harm caused by domestic abuse.
