Wishing Hearts are a Maidstone-based charity (Registered Charity Number 1198101) currently providing 'Wishes' for older people across Kent! Wishes are community-based activities which encourage older people to get out of the house, connect with others, and do something exciting which is going to boost their wellbeing and reduce levels of isolation.

Wishing Hearts accept referrals from individuals who may benefit from our Wishes, alongside from family members, friends and professional organisations. Please use the form below to make a referral for a Wish.
Wishing Hearts provide 'Wishes' - a form of individual support which provide older people with unique experiences and companionship. The aim with Wishes is to help older people to feel a sense of fulfilment by trying new and/or exciting activities which they may have never otherwise got to try!
How The Wishes Work
Wishing Hearts provide a range of different wishes for our community. These are usually focussed on unique experiences which encourage people to do or embrace something they have never tried before, whilst also promoting social inclusion and interaction with the broader community.
Previous wishes we have provided have included:
- Trips to the beach, cinema or zoo
- Took someone to have their ears pierced
- Took someone to get a tattoo
- Allowed someone on end of life care to experience a bagpipe player
- Social visits for people who are isolated and would like to meet new people over tea & cake
- Trips out for lunch
Wishing Hearts Charity are currently funded to provide Wishes for local people. Wishes are designed to get older people out of the house - encouraging them to meet new people, and get involved in fun activities! Wishes are mainly for older members of the community. These are generally people aged 65+. We use discretion when other people may benefit from the services we provide. Where possible we provide wishes for free, but this may not be possible for wishes which are grander in scale.
Anyone is welcome to nominate an older person for a 'Wish' - we have a contact form on our website. Please share with anyone you know who may benefit, and help Wishing Hearts to grant more wishes for older people in our communities in 2024!
