Apply For Postal Or Proxy Vote Online Now

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is asking everyone who won’t be able to get to the polling station on polling day – Thursday 2 May, to register now for a postal or proxy vote.
Anyone eligible to vote who won’t be able to do so in person can do so post. They will need register and can do this online now by going to the government website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
Everyone registering to vote via the post will be sent a postal vote ballot pack before the day of the election. (People should note that the application process has changed and if they wish to vote this way can now apply online.)
Alternatively, those who cannot vote in person could setup a proxy vote (when they allow someone they trust to do so on their behalf.) This can also now be done online via: https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.
Angela Woodhouse, Returning Officer for Maidstone Borough Council said: “As the process for postal and proxy votes has changed we are asking anyone who needs to register or wants to apply to do so as soon as possible. This will help make sure that we can process them in good time and ensure that they have the opportunity to vote.”
The elections being held on 2 May will be the first on the MBC new whole council election cycle, which means that all 49 Borough Councillors and Parish Councils will be up for election at the same time. These elections will also include voting for the Kent Police & Crime Commissioner.
Poll cards will be sent out to registered electors at the end of March with all the relevant information to be able to vote. If you are not already registered to vote you can do so online too at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote .
