Moments from Mote Park go on display at Maidstone Museum

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is delighted to announce a new exhibition celebrating six years of the Mote Park Photography Competition. The exhibition, entitled ‘Moments from Mote Park’, is being held at the Maidstone Museum from 6 February to 2 March, within the Café Gallery.

The exhibition features a selection of large photo prints as well as albums of entries from each year since the competition began, back in 2013. The competition has proved immensely popular over the years with hundreds of residents, old and young alike, taking part.

Alan Frith, Mote Park Manager, said: “This is a wonderful competition which really engages people with the park. It’s a beautiful site with such diverse landscapes and wildlife, and it changes with each season. It’s a real treat to see all the entries come in each year.”

The competition will be back for 2019 and will be open for entries from 1 March to 31 August. There are three categories to choose from: Landscapes, Seasons and Wildlife. Photos can be taken at any time of year but they MUST be taken within Mote Park.

Cllr Paul Harper, Chair of the Heritage, Culture & Leisure Committee at MBC added: “Over the last six years the photo competition has become a firm favourite, with people capturing and sharing special moments in this much-loved park.

“This exhibition will provide a great showcase not only for the photographs but also for the park itself, which is undoubtedly the star of the show.”
