Blue Monday to Brew Monday with the Maidstone Samaritans Team

Join Maidstone Samaritans on Brew Monday at The Mall

Getting through the January blues can be difficult, so Maidstone Samaritans are going to be at The Mall with a free cuppa and a chat on Monday 15th January 2018.

The third Monday of the first month has been labelled ‘the most depressing day of the year’. For the third year running, Samaritans and supporters across the country are renaming that day ‘Brew Monday’ and celebrating that great tradition of simply getting together to talk over a cup of tea (or coffee!).

The campaign is to raise awareness of the benefits of sharing a cuppa and a chat with anyone who may be going through a tough time. Showing you care and listening can save a life.

Maidstone Samaritans Director Sue Christmas said: “Brew Monday comes at that time of year when all sorts of things can be playing on your mind. Money, family, work, it can all seem a lot to cope with.

“We're simply encouraging people to take five minutes to sit down with someone who may need just to share what they're going through.

“We'll be at The Mall to share a cup of tea and a chat and everyone is welcome so please do come along and say 'hello'. There may also be biscuits!”

Suzie Brindle, Marketing Manager at The Mall Maidstone, said: “Our shoppers’ wellbeing is very important to us so we would like to offer the Samaritans a warm welcome and encourage our shoppers to join them for a complimentary cuppa.”

Volunteers will be on hand with a free drink and to listen but also to talk to anyone who may be thinking of becoming a volunteer.

Maidstone Samaritans will be at the Community Hub in The Mall, Maidstone from 10am to 4pm on Monday 15th January 2018.
