Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs is a national charity which supports people living with sight loss throughout the UK.

Guide dogs are  looking for volunteers in and around Maidstone to provide a temporary home for a dog in training, using the support and guidance of Guide Dogs for the welfare and handling of the dog.

Could you and your family care for a guide dog in training?  Lindsay, a Fosterer says, “Fostering ticked all the boxes for me – having a dog at home around work, helping a worthy organisation, and developing a greater understanding and appreciation of what Guide Dogs’ trainers do.”

The dog will live with you for approximately 6 months during its training. You will need to drop the dog off at our Turkey Mill office each morning, and collect at the end of the day, Monday to Friday, with the dog staying with you over the weekend.

All Fosterers receive training, and a local staff contact will be with you every step of the journey. All food, vet bills and treatments will be covered by Guide Dogs. If you would like to be a part of a life changing journey, join our fosterer community today. Together we will be helping more people with sight loss to live actively, independently, and well.
