Time to Work Out

Christmas has come and gone and for many of us, over indulging is all part of the festive season. Advent calendar chocolates, mince pies, mulled wine and the epic Christmas dinner – it’s no wonder we’re starting the New Year feeling a little sluggish.

But with stores full of healthy food options, new fitness wear and exercise equipment you can use at the gym or at home, The Mall is here to help get you feeling energised again!

Whether you’re a gym bunny, like to work out at home or prefer the great outdoors, you’re guaranteed to get active if you treat yourself to a new work out wardrobe.

Patterned leggings are still a top fitness fashion trend for 2017. Not only do they make exercising easier as they move with your curves, but the fun patterns are very eye catching – perfect for those New Year spin classes!

It’s also important to update your footwear to make sure you get the right support when you exercise. Running shoes are very different to classic trainers, so make sure you speak to a sales advisor to make sure you’re getting the right fit.

You might work up a sweat while you’re training, but you’ll also need to face the elements if you’re outside. Jackets and Gilets are a great way to protect yourself from the winter weather and are sold in a variety of stores in The Mall.

Now that you look the part, you can get going! Joining the gym is a great way to start the New Year (or dusting off your old membership card). But if you want to work out at home, you can pick up a selection of exercise equipment at Boots. From a simple pedometer to free weights, they’ve got everything you need.

To keep track of your exercise and make new goals, FitBit has also launched two new devices with the FitBit Flex and Fitbit Charge 2, offering even more features to monitor your heart rate, step count and guided breathing sessions.

Of course, it’s not all about exercise. What you put into your body is equally as important. Holland and Barrett have a fantastic range of healthy and tasty food options and vitamin supplements to get you looking and feeling great.

It’s not about making New Year’s Resolutions – it’s a lifestyle change and one for a better, healthier, you!

WHO’S THAT LOOKING AT US AT THE MALL WALTHAMSTOW!

The faces are literally pressed against the wall at The Mall Walthamstow which sees the unveiling of a new mural of graffiti art outside the shopping Centre. The commissioned street art, which is 4 meters long is the latest work to be created in conjunction with Walthamstow’s Wood Street Walls. The style and feel of the glorious graffiti being created and displayed around Walthamstow echoes the walls of Wynwood, a neighborhood of Miami renowned for its street art. Making his mark at The Mall is the up and coming street artist Woserksi who is a Street artist based in London, painting since 1997. Marketing Manager of The Mall, Rebecca Marjoram, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Woserksi and the Wood Street Walls team here to The Mall Walthamstow. “It’s been great to work with Wood Street Walls again and the opportunity to work with this great local organization to deliver a unique, visual experience to our customers here at The Mall.” This latest art installation follows the successful “Deflation Creation” installation by Fanakapan in 2015. Since launching, Wood Street Walls has been responsible for transforming bland buildings, industrial estates and streets in the borough and has the backing of Waltham Forest Council. Wood Street Walls co-founder Mark Clack said: "We're really excited to be working in collaboration with The Mall again and we hope this will be the start of many more to come. "If anyone has blank walls or hoardings that need brightening up or know an area or space that could do with a lick of paint, please contact us via our website www.woodstreetwalls.co.uk or via twitter.com/woodstreetwalls.”
