Bb’s Café’s get ‘In the Pink’

Bb’s Café’s get ‘In the Pink’ to support Marie Keating Foundation this October

In time honoured tradition, bb’s are once again launching a special edition ‘In The Pink’ muffin in support of the Marie Keating Foundation.  This delicious recipe of Raspberry and White Chocolate was developed by their craft bakers and will be baked in every store fresh each morning through October, Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Every muffin sold will donate 25p to the Foundation, helping their fight against breast cancer, a disease which affects as many as 1 in 8 women and, thanks to early detection and advances in treatment, more and more women are now surviving.  Through the work of the Foundation and other similar organisations, breast cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘In The Pink’ Raspberry & White Chocolate muffin, Ronan Keating, son of the late Marie Keating, said, “Almost all of us know someone who is affected by breast cancer whether it’s our mother, our sister, our daughter or a friend. Having a Raspberry & White Chocolate Muffin is a great way to give yourself an occasional treat while also helping the Marie Keating Foundation in our fight against this disease. There are bb’s bakers + baristas stores all around the country so please drop by and join the fight against cancer this October.”

Andrew Moyes, CEO of bb’s, said “We are delighted to be ‘Pink Partners’ once again with the Marie Keating Foundation to support their amazing breast cancer programmes and services.  Like many of our team members, I was personally affected by breast cancer when my wife was diagnosed with the disease, so I hope that the funds that we raise will help prevent this happening to another family.  Last year our customers really got behind the campaign and we are confident that they will do so again this year.  Who can resist a Raspberry and White Chocolate muffin, especially when enjoying one is making a contribution to such a worthy cause!”

BB’s bakers + baristas stores will also be helping to promote messages about breast cancer awareness during the month of October. Each store will be providing customers with information from the Marie Keating Foundation on how to reduce their risk of breast cancer, which include:

  • Regularly check your breasts,
  • Be a healthy weight,
  • Get active,
  • Don’t smoke,
  • Limit alcohol,
  • Visit your Doctor if you think there is something wrong.
