Mental Health Matters

Mid Kent Mind (MKM) are the local branch of Mind in Maidstone – based a five-minute walk from Maidstone town centre. We are an independent charity entirely self-funded and focus on providing mental health and wellbeing services to the local community.

As an organisation, MKM offer a mixture of both one-to-one and group-based sessions for people who feel as though they would benefit from additional support. Our one-to-one services include a Low Cost Counselling Service, and also Recovery Action Plans – which consist of six weeks of one-to-one sessions with a Wellbeing Worker, allowing people to identify areas in their life where they could improve their mental health and wellbeing. Our group services implement a range of techniques to support people – including the use of Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC) methods to help people to build their resilience and their coping strategies for broader life.

We also provide a range of services for young people, with our courses focusing on the issues which are most prevalent on the lives of young people today. Over our extensive roster of courses, we explore a range of topics – including self-image, anger, anxiety, social networks and also how we manage our relationships with others and build our support networks. Our aim with a lot of our Youth programmes is to help young people to proactively developing their coping mechanisms so they have an opportunity to develop and build a good level of emotional resilience for their adult lives.
