Dementia Action Week

20th May - 26th May

People in Luton are asked to support Dementia Action Week by simply starting a conversation after visiting events next week.

Alzheimer’s Society’s #AskUsAnything campaign, to mark Dementia Action Week (20th - 26th May), urges people in Luton, where more than 1,800 people are living with dementia, to take action, big or small, and help towards creating a dementia-friendly generation.

This Dementia Action Week, members of Luton Dementia Action Alliance will join Alzheimer’s Society on Tuesday 21st May, to host events in St George’s Square from 10am to 3pm. There will be another opportunity on Wednesday 22nd May, inside The Mall, Luton, where Alzheimer’s Society and Luton Dementia Action Alliance will host an information stand from 9.30am to 4pm in Central Square for people to find out more.

The campaign is announced as research shows that despite almost all of us knowing someone affected by the condition, two-thirds of people living with dementia report feeling isolated and lonely.

In the UK, one person develops dementia every three minutes so small acts of kindness such as calling a relative with dementia, visiting a neighbour or becoming a Dementia Friend, can make a big difference.

In Luton, businesses and community groups are already working towards making the town dementia friendly and during Dementia Action Week people can find out how they can get involved too.
