What's on - The Day of the Older Person is coming to town.

The Day of the Older Person is coming to town with a fun-filled day, packed with barn dancing, tai chi demos, stalls, information and even some sit down tap.
Hillingdon Council and Age Concern invite older people, their friends and family to celebrate the day of the older person between 10am and 4pm Tuesday 7th of October at the Pavilions Shopping Centre, Uxbridge. The event will be officially opened at 10.30am by the Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Catherine Dann.
The day's entertainment includes:
school choir at 10am
the Mayor's opening ceremony at 10.30am
a Tai Chi fitness demo at 11am
'Tappenings', sit down tap dancing, at 12.00noon
barn dancing with John Simmonds at 1.15pm
dancing at 2.15
closing and prize draw at 3.30pm
Thirty six stall holders will be at the event, many with information about services that older people find useful including Hillingdon Homes, the children's information service, energy efficiency, Age Concern,Hillingdon Pensioners Association, Shopmobility, the PCT, Police, Fire Brigade and podiatry.
The day is sponsored by Hillingdon Council, the Hoenigsberg Trust, Fassnidge Trust and the Pavilions Shopping Centre, Uxbridge and promoted by Hillingdon Pensioners Association, Age Concern Hillingdon and Hillingdon Forum for the Elderly.
Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Catherine Dann said "Hillingdon Council takes its committment to older people very seriously so we are very happy to be a vital part of the international day of the older person and celebrate the contribution that older people make in Hillingdon.
