What's on - 1000 faces of the Mall

Press release
12 July 2007

Let us put someone you know on the map

The Mall Romford wants to pay tribute to the people of Havering by featuring fifty of their faces on a map of Britain which is being created with 1,000 faces from across the country.

The national project which will run across all The Mall's 23 shopping centres is a way of recognising and acknowledging the diversity that exist in and around communities and the value all individuals contribute in shaping the heartbeat of each community.

"Hal's photographs are much more than a simple snap-shot," says Peter Callagher General manager at The Mall Romford,"His pictures seam to capture the spirit of the people and the communities where they live."

The mall project will use 50 photos from each location where they have a Centre. The majority of the subjects will be chosen at random from shoppers and visitors in The Mall that day but to add an extra dimension to the project 10 people will be invited to have their pictures included.

They don't have to look like Kate Moss - we want people with big hearts rather than long legs - role models not supermodels. Teachers, Nurses, Mums and Businesspeople who put more into society than they take out.
They might be up there in the public eye or making a more personal contribution, they may be old or young, black or white - whoever they are and however they look we want to thank them, take their picture and put them on the map.

It's time we put subjects in front of the camera that bring smiles to other people's faces.
