A Special Message for My Mum
Children at over twenty local schools were invited to write a poem for their Mothers in The Mall's "A special message for my Mum" competition.
The schools and groups were sent specially produced entry forms on which to write their poems and a Project Pack produced to enable Teachers and Team Leaders to introduce the children to some Poets, show them examples of poems featuring mothers and to give them background to the history and meaning of Mothering Sunday.
"As mothers devote so much time caring for their children, we thought that for Mother's Day, it would be nice for children to be able to show their Mum's just how much they love them by writing a poem", said Sarah de Courcy Rolls, Marketing Manager of The Mall, Romford.
The competition closed on Friday 22nd February and portraits displayed in The Mall all during week commencing 25 February the week running up to Mothering Sunday on 2 March.

Both children won a £25.00 "Spend Me" Card for themselves as well as a £25.00 "Spend Me" Card for their Mother to pamper herself. The winning portraits were framed so the artists could give them to their Mum as a gift for Mothers Day.
Mead School submitted the best overall quality of portraits and receive £100 towards their funds - possibly for use for buying more artists' materials.
