What's on - £5780.63 raised by the 36 Challenge!!!

The Challenge was set following the devastating news on the 17th September 2007 that one of Maidstone's very own members of the 36 Royal Engineers, Cpl Ivano 'Sean' Violino, based at the Invicta Barracks had been killed in action whilst serving in Afghanistan.

The '36 Challenge', held on 6th October 2007 saw local businesses and residents come together at The Mall Chequers for the charity event, in which teams of six competed against other teams by completing six different fitness challenges based on various gym disciplines.

The fund rising does not stop there. Capt Anna Kirkin, who took part in the 36 Challenge, has now set her own challenge, to take part in the Marathon des Sables 2008. This involves running for 6 days to cover a staggering 151 miles, all of which is across the desert in temperatures of 48C.   The Mall have also sponsored Capt Kirkin £2000 to help her reach the £10'000 target that has been set.

Suzie Brindle, Marketing Manager, The Mall Chequers said: "We are just so please and thankful to the people of Maidstone, they have truly shown their support for regiment."
