What's on - Butchers Carry Off Top Shopping Centre Award

Just because trade is tough, it doesn't mean we can't celebrate excellence where it exists. Indeed, in these markets, recognising brilliant customer service is more important than ever. Local master butchers, J C Rook & Sons, have scooped the top award, The National Mall Independent Retailer of the Year Award 2008. This is the fifth year running the awards has been presented, twenty stores are short listed, one from each Mall. They are then all Mystery Shopped to find the one with the best service.

With over 1250 retailers in The Mall portfolio, trading from over 2000 units in 20 UK locations, this award is a superb achievement for Stephen Abbott, Store Manager and his team.

Paul Alcock, General Manager for the Mall Chequers said "J C Rook and Sons have been trading in the Mall since it opened in 1976 and although the look of the shop has changed, their high standards and exceptional customer service has remained constant and this award reflects their excellence in many areas"

JC Rook and Sons have been trading in Kent for over 40 years and have 16 shops throughout the county. Over the years the company has won many awards for home made sausages and pies and are especially proud of being a 2008 finalist in the UKTV Local Food Hero Award. They also took 2nd place for the 2008 Ice lab E Commerce in Kent award, as well as gaining many prestigious awards for customer service excellence. So the Mall National Mall Independent Retailer of the Year Award 2008 is in good company.
