Family business beats industry giants 

The Entertainer has stormed the toy industry's most prestigious awards, winning a hat-trick of honours that include Best Overall Toy Retailer for the UK and Ireland.

The family-run business beat off competition from retail giants including John Lewis, Asda and Toys R Us to win three of the top retailer prizes at the 2011 Toy Industry Awards on Tuesday. The company, based in Amersham, Bucks, was named the best Multiple Toy Retailer, Best Online Toy Retailer and also scored the biggest prize of the night - Best Overall Toy Retailer.

Judges ranked The Entertainer's stores highly for customer experience, service and staff knowledge, while the online side of the business was awarded for its high-quality content and special features.
The company's awards success comes just weeks after it announced record-breaking sales figures and plans for expansion that will see the opening of a dozen new stores in 2012.

Founder and owner of The Entertainer, Gary Grant, said: "To be recognised by our peers as best in class in the three categories in which we had been nominated is a real testament to our staff at all levels.
