What's on - Next chart topping festival act to be revealed
01 Feb 2012 - 05 Feb 2012
Luton Borough Council will reveal the second high profile act performing at this Summer's Love Luton 2012 Festival at a special event at The Mall this Saturday 4th February.
The announcement will be made as part of two days of entertainment at Smith's Square (outside M&S) at The Mall where local music acts performing at this year's festival will be able to give shoppers a sneak preview of their musical talent.
Coming just 11 days after successful UK band The Wanted were confirmed as the first high profile act for this year's festival, the announcement will be made on a big screen with a personal message to Luton residents from the act.
The chart topping act will be performing on Saturday 7 July at Popes Meadow as part of the spectacular four day festival. Tickets will go on sale immediately after the announcement.
A number of other big name artists performing at Popes Meadow during the festival will also be announced at this weekend's event.
This weekend's event at The Mall starts at 11am, with live music performances, competitions and give aways, so make sure you come down for the main event for the big artist announcement at 1pm!
Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council, said: "Make sure you come to The Mall this weekend to see and hear some of Luton's best musical talent and to be among the first people in the UK to find out who the second major act is for the Love Luton 2012 Festival.
"We expect another huge reaction from residents as we announce this household name that a lot of people probably thought may never perform in Luton. We will also be announcing other great artists to show how this year's festival will cater for different music tastes.
"Combine the high calibre acts with a breathtaking carnival parade, fantastic mela entertainment, fireworks displays, fringe activities, school games and the Olympic Torch parade and ceremony; and we really do have an amazing festival to look forward to.
