What's on - Childsafe at the Mall Edgware
The Mall Edgware is pleased to have launched a series of new safety measures offering more care and protection to children who become separated from their parents. The aim was to re-unite children with their families as soon as possible by giving parents direct access to the Mall Edgware's security team in the CCTV control room. The Mall Edgware is linking in with a national project called Child Safe Zones.
Families visiting the Mall Edgware are able to pick up free wristbands from the Ask Me Point. Parents can write their mobile telephone numbers on the reverse of the wristbands to use if their child becomes separated. Throughout the Mall, Child Safe Zone posters with distinctive smiley orange logos are prominently displayed. These will carry the special Child Safe number 08100 62 18 63 linking through directly to the Mall's control room. Any parent losing sight of a child or any shopper finding a lost child in distress can use this number to activate a search using the extra eyes of The Mall's CCTV system.
PS Dan Reid 28SX from Edgware Safer Neighbourhood Team said "Edgware Shopping Mall becoming a 'Child Safe Zone' is an excellent iniative. In this day and age when concerns are always raised when a young child becomes seperated from their parent or guardian, this scheme can only assist, a parent being reunited with their lost child quickly and safely. Coordination is the key for the success of a lost child being returned to its parents as quickly as possible. This scheme is to coordinate the efforts of all those within the Mall, Edgware who can assist to this happy outcome."
Angela Greenlees, General Manager of The Mall Edgware, added "the value of Child Safe Zones has been proved in other parts of the country but this is the first time the project has been introduced in this area. We believe the new measure will compliment our existing safety procedures and help to make family visits to the Mall Edgware even more stress-free and enjoyable."
