What's on - ‘Park Mark’ seal of approval for The Mall Blackburn

THE Mall Blackburn is the first car park in the town to be awarded the prestigious safer parking status, 'Park Mark', by the British Parking Association.

The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers aimed at reducing crime, and the fear of crime, in car parks.

The safer parking status, Park Mark, is awarded to car park operators who have met strict standards including ensuring measures are in place to help deter criminal activity and anti-social behavior on the premises.

As part of the ongoing £66 million redevelopment to The Mall Blackburn, the X sq ft car park has been refurbished. Lighting has been upgraded, signage improved, together with the installation of two new lifts providing access to all shopping levels.

Other measures taken by The Mall to improve the safety and comfort of their customers include regular maintenance of the car park, 24 hour CCTV and regular patrols by security staff and the introduction of new family bays and increased disabled bays.

Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: "We are delighted to receive the Park Mark status, and to be the first in Blackburn to be recognised for the safety of our parking facilities.

"A lot of hard work has gone into the redevelopment of the car park and this award reflects the commitment of The Mall to the safety of our customers."

"We will continue to ensure that we meet the high standards set by the Safer Parking Scheme and the British Parking Association, so that the public can feel confident of security when visiting The Mall Blackburn."
