What's on - The Mall Placed 59th in The Sunday Times Top 100 Workplaces
The Mall, the owner of The Mal Barnsley has been placed at number 59 in the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For. The UK's leading community shopping centre owner and operator fought off stiff competition from 868 companies to be named in the prestigious list, which is based mainly on feedback from the company's own staff and a thorough evaluation of their policies, practices and processes.
The Mall team is made up of over 380 directly employed staff aged between 16 and 75, from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. It also has a substantial contract staff population and works closely to ensure that all partner companies look after their people to the same principles as The Mall. Its 23 branded malls stretch across the UK from Aberdeen to Southampton and Bristol to Norwich.
Gaynor Gillespie, Human Resources Director at The Mall comments: "This is fantastic news for us, especially as we are the only shopping centre owner and operator to have been placed on the list this year - it is a testament to the culture and values we have across the company. The fact that the survey is largely based on feedback from our own people makes this particularly valuable for us. Listening to our employees is crucial in ensuring the business continues to develop in the right way and making it onto The Sunday Times list is clear evidence that we are on the right track."
Gaynor Gillespie adds "People really are at the heart of our business and our brand values - Caring, Dynamic and Easy - are the principles which run through all elements of The Mall, how we behave with our shoppers, retailers and each other. This survey clearly demonstrates that our people continue to be passionate about the company, our cultures and values, and are driving our business forward with them firmly in mind."
Concluding, Chief Executive of The Mall, Ken Ford, said: "I am so delighted that the passion, commitment and talent of all our Mall People for their business have been recognised in this prestigious way. The major differentiator of The Mall is our people and it's brilliant to have this endorsed by this award. A fantastic result."
The Mall was established in 2002 by Capital & Regional and Morley Fund Management. The Mall has grown to a portfolio of 23 branded Malls valued at c.£3 billion. The Mall is home to more than 1,250 retailers, who enjoy more than 4.5 million shopping visit every week.
