What is EnviroMall
The EnviroMall initiative, aims to assist shopping centres and their retailers to improve their performance and reduce their impact on the environment. To find out more click here.
The initiative sets out clear targets for improvement and provides practical tools that will help any shopping centre or retailer help reduce their consumption, raise efficiency and monitor performance.
Why it works
EnviroMall is an essential part of reducing the environment impact of shopping centres as they occupy a staggering 21 million square metres on floor space. The sheer size means they and their tenants contribute huge volumes of waste to landfill sites.
By committing to making a change at a local level, shopping centres and their tenants can aim to build a better world for us all.
Our commitment
As a business, The Mall Corporation is committed to:
- a 63% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2010
- consuming 50% less energy by 2012
- recycling 85% of waste with 0% going to landfill by 2012
