'The Sound of the Community'

Century of sound is back! A week long event celebrating the musical and artistic heritage of Surrey Heath in the community. The festival promotes local Surrey Heath venues and societies so come along to support and get involved. The Academy of Contemporary Music are offering free Music Taster Sessions in guitar, piano, vocals, keyboards, drum and DJ.

Sunday 4th - 15:00 - 19:00

Jazz Day at The Brickmakers Arms, Windlesham

Windlesham’s famous annual Jazz Day & BBQ. Featuring local hero Chuck Chandler & The Go Go Five. A great day out for all the family.

Monday 5th - 10:30 - 11:30

Children's Music Rhymetimes at the Camberley Library, Knoll Road, GU15 3SY

Come along and Introduce your baby to songs, rhymes and books at your library!

Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers aged under five, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It’s fun, interactive and noisy!

No need to book, simply turn up and enjoy the fun. Rhymetimes can get busy so please do arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Open Mic night presented by ‘Taking the Mic’ come along and showcase your talent whatever it may be ...music, poetry, comedy, magic…whatever – if you are up for it, give it a go?!

Recycling is Instrumental for children at Camberley Library, Camberley

Recycling is Instrumental – an inspired musical workshop with a difference for children Ages 6 to 12 years - Led by SHBC Recycling Officer Verity Parker the workshop will look at recycling materials and the instruments which can be modelled from them. Please book in advance via Surrey Heath Museum 01276 707284, or email museum@surreyheath.gov.uk (those under 8 years, must be accompanied by an adult). A £2.50 voluntary donation is welcomed.

A Celebration of Ethel Smyth at Frimhurst, Frimley Green GU16 6NU

A special afternoon celebrating the work of local Composer and Suffragette, Ethel Smyth, at her childhood home, Frimhurst. With musical performances from renowned pianist Maureen Galea and Surrey Heath Singers  plus a lecture on this influential Composer by Dr.Christopher Wiley, Senior Lecturer in Music, the University of Surrey.  Tickets are £10 and must be booked in advance via Surrey Heath Museum on 01276 707284 or museum@surreyheath.gov.uk.
