The Retail Factor competition partners

The Mall is working with several partners ideal for helping you make the most of your business ideas:

The Oxford Summer School

The Oxford Summer School is one of the 'jewels in the crown' of UK retailing. It was established in 1923 and apart from the War years has been running ever since. Its 80th anniversary was celebrated in 2009.

Run 'by the trade for the trade' it allows junior managers from across the spectrum of UK retailers to further develop their retailing skills in one of the finest seats of learning in the world, Keble College, Oxford University. Taking place annually for a week in August, it combines a challenging academic program with the opportunity to network and have fun with fellow retailers.

The School is designed to expose delegates to some of the problems, decisions and challenges involved in running a retail business. The program concentrates on enhancing the delegate's expertise in the management of the following key resources: People, Money, Marketing, Merchandise and Retail Space.

National Skills Academy

National Skills Academies are employer-led centres of training excellence. The government's mission is to create a world class workforce by delivering the skills that employers need in each sector of the economy. Skills Academies take different shapes and forms, ranging from purpose-built training centres to online courses tailored to the needs of each sector.

Skills academies are now operating in 14 key sectors of the economy, from financial services and creative & cultural to construction and manufacturing - and another two are in the business planning phase of development. Over time, the government wants to have a skills academy in every major sector of the economy.
